One of my greatest annoyance with my natural hair is the amount of time it takes to dry when I do any style on wet hair. Especially my twist outs and braid outs. They can honestly take more than 24 hours to dry.
So to style a failed twist out, I usually just roll and tuck the back of my hair upward, slide my hair to the side and just pin everything and just leave an afro at the top of my hair.
How do you style your hair on bad hair days?
A couple a of days ago, I did a braid out on my type 4c or kinky curly natural hair. I did the braid out on dry unwashed hair. I used very little liquid products, just Aussie moist conditioner and some ecostyler gel. I wasn’t sure how my hair was going to turn out because I only use gel on we hair for the most part. Also the girl I copied the idea from on youtube has relaxed hair so, I was very unsure. But to my surprise my hair came out very nice and full. I received many compliments for it.
How do you do your braid outs?
If you have my hair type you know the hustle of styling shrunken hair. It’s not fun.
What I do is I divide my hair into four quadrants, moisturize then braid my hair and tuck it in itself. Pictured below
Leave hair like this for about an hour. Then viola
I showed you guys how I do my wash and go in my previous post. Check it out if you haven’t.
I usually turn my wash and go into puffs. This is how I styled it today. This is day 5. The curls are still holding but it did get flakey.
How do you style old hair?
Long time! I know you’ve heard that a wash and go cannot be achieved on 4c natural hair or kinky textured hair, I’m here to tell you that, it is FAKE NEWS.
I start of really wet hair. I use these 2 products. A spray leave-in conditioner by Carols daughter and eco-styler gel. This was the first time I used this specific eco-styler but I have another one I usually use. This worked fine but i prefer my other gel.
After I apply my products, I hold it with the clips just so my hair stay in place. As you can see my sections are pretty large. If you want more definition, definitely make your sections smaller.
This was the finished product. Here it was about 30% dry. It puffed up more as it got more dry.
